WWDC22: Call to code

Apple has just announced WWDC for this year, taking place from June 6th to the 10th and entirely online apart from an invite-only special event on Monday.

Apple’s design for this year is a huge Swift logo, and although it’s rarely possible to read much into their event graphics, it is of course fun to speculate – perhaps it’s time for Core Data to get the SwiftUI treatment?

Of course, there are lots of things we can be sure of, including new iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS releases, Swift 5.7 landing with distributed actor support, and a huge collection of session videos, labs, digital lounges, and more.

And if you’d like to take part in this year’s student challenge, you’ll need to build a three-minute interactive scene using Swift Playgrounds. If you haven’t had chance to try out Swift Playgrounds yet, I have a tutorial that will help jump start you, available as both text and video.

Ready for Advanced SwiftUI?

I’m running a new workshop in May, teaching folks a variety of advanced SwiftUI skills they can apply to their projects immediately. It will take place entirely online, 9am to 4pm US Eastern time, and you can choose one of two days: May 4th and May 8th.
